Product IDs - The digital product passport
The digital product passport is part of an EU-wide package of measures to promote the circular economy. It not only contains information about where the product comes from, but also about its exact composition and how it was manufactured. The digital product passport also provides insights into the repair and dismantling options, including recycling and correct disposal of the product.
The origin of the digital product passport lies in the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan of the European Union. The passport is considered an important tool for a climate-friendly, sustainable and resource-conserving market economy.
The aim of the digital product passport is to digitally record and store all relevant information about a product, from the extraction of the individual raw materials in the product to the return and recycling at the end of the product's life. This is intended to ensurecomplete traceability and transparency along the entire value chain.
The digital product passport will be more important for products with a complex composition than for products with few components. This is essential, not least to prevent negative environmental impacts and optimize recycling.

A unique ID can be assigned during the production of the insulating glass and inserted in the cavity between the panes.
This glass ID forms the basis for the subsequent networking of all further process steps. This allows the window manufacturer, the fitter and later other trades to link their data for maximum transparency.
All data is available to the end customer and all those involved in the process, depending on authorization.
" Window ID
The window ID can be attached to windows or doors and linked to the production data record.
This option can be used as an alternative to the glass ID or to supplement it for components without glass.
The window ID can also be used for retrofitting and for recording elements that have already been installed.
