The industry solution for digitization in the window sector
The ID4Win pilot project is the first comprehensive solution for the digital recording of relevant data across the entire value chain in window manufacturing.
ID4Win thus sets new standards in terms of transparency, sustainability, and digital networking, and creates the basis for future-proof, standardized labeling of building components.
Thanks to digital component labeling with ID4WIN, window data can be accessed throughout the entire life cycle. By scanning the QR code in the glass cavity, manufacturers, installers, and service companies can access important documents at any time—for seamless tracking.
What is the digital product passport?
As part of an EU-wide package of measures, the digital product passport promotes the circular economy. It contains not only information about where the window comes from, but also about its exact composition and how it was manufactured. The passport also provides insights into repair and dismantling options, including recycling and proper disposal.
The ID4Winconcept is compatible with the planned digital product passport planned digital product passport. This will initially apply to electronic products, but an extension to the construction sector is considered very likely.
Last but not least, there is the "digital window" meets the increasingly stringent requirements of sustainable construction. Since all information about the materials used and the production processes is documented, recycling and reuse at the end of the product's life cycle are made much easier, in line with the principles of the circular economy.

BISS.ID - The digital platform
The aim is to be able to provide information about the product throughout its entire life cycle. This is based on data collection and, above all, linking during product development. Many participants are already involved at this stage—added to this is the area of installation and assembly, e.g., by specialist dealers or assembly companies.
From acceptance and warranty to daily use, there are a large number of parties involved who need access to the data. In particular, issues such as recycling and the circular economy can only be addressed with a joint approach.
Under the "Digital Window" initiative and with ID4Win, the first holistic digital product labeling system was developed.
How does the ID4Win principle work?

As soon as the QR code is scanned with a smartphone or tablet, the user is taken to the ID4Win landing page. By combining this with the unique ID, the data for the respective product is accessed in the background via the BISS.ID platform. All relevant product information is stored here, including details of the materials and components used, coatings, and all important data on manufacture, disposal and possible recycling.
An individual authorisation concept ensures that different user groups can access the information that is relevant to them. For example, end customers can view maintenance instructions and warranty services, while window manufacturers can access detailed technical data and installation documentation.
By using the BISS.ID app, those involved in the process can link additional data, such as the installer for installation or service technicians for maintenance.
